On a beautiful spring day while my son played on the playground I was lucky to find this puppy to photograph. He only had eyes for this stick and the kids on the other side of the fence.

Take a look at Ethel. She needs a loving home! Contact the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria for more information.
In early December we volunteered to take pictures for the annual event hosted by Animal Welfare League of Alexandria and Olde Town School for Dogs. DeSilva Studios has been involved with this event for several years. And each year our cheeks hurt from smiling!
Right as summer turned to fall I had the privilege of photographing MoonShadow and his family. MoonShadow is a big handsome black dog that loves to run and play. Life does not get any better than this!
Wow... too cute for words! I could not stop taking pictures of these guys. Since Halloween is around the corner we used some pumpkins as props!
It was a beautiful afternoon. I got invited to the "House of Newfies!" I have been working with this client for many years. I have had the priviledge of photographing several of their Newfies. This is there newest edition named Paris. As you can see she is very much loved!
I had an amazing time at the National Zoo last weekend. I went on a Photo Safari and captured images of gorillas, elephants, lions and birds. I cant wait to do another one! I hope you enjoy!
Earlier this summer I had a great time photographing two beagles and a bird! During the photo session I kept hearing a whistle. After hearing it a couple of times I asked the owner where it was coming from... it turned out they had a pet bird that was whistling at me! I was so amused that I had to take some shots of the bird too!
And as it turned out I had met these two beagles before. They are regulars at the Santa Pet Photo Event hosted by The Olde Town School for Dogs that I have been shooting for the past 5 years. It is a charity event for the Animal League of Alexandria.
I went to Taos, NM last week and had an amazing time photographing just about every animal I could find. Mainly, my subjects were horses, cows & falcons with majestic mountains in the background. I have always enjoyed capturing whimsy (see cow picture) but the elegance and beauty of a band of wild horses almost stole the show.
This guy is awesome! He is playful and knows tricks! He is available for adoption at the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria.
Another round of fabuolus animals that could be yours! Check out www.alexandriaanimals.org for more information on these guys!
What a lovely spring day we had at Glencarlyn Dog park in Arlington. Chewy (named after Chewbacca!) was the star of this session! What a cutie. And at 5 months he already knows sit & stay. Pretty good for a puppy. Yet when he was not staying and sitting he was running.... and so happy to have been able to catch some of the action!
Another fun great session at the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria. As you will notice the three dogs from this photo session are all medium size brown dogs. The same as my girl Coco! We adopted her 9 years ago. Anyway... take a look at these awesome animals!
These adorable guys are just a few of the animals that are available for adoption at the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria. Every couple of weeks I will be going to the AWLA to take pictures for their web site. Several other professional photographers are donating their time to do this as well. I love taking pictures of our adobtable furry friends. Yet the first question I am often asked is "How can you do that... Don't you want to take all the animals home with you?" Of course I do... but reality dictates otherwise. But I get so much out of the experience. These animals are so resilient. And some need more socialization skills - so if I can help them be one step closer to being adopted sign me up! Also the images we produce for the AWLA are available for purchase by those that adopt them. All proceeds go back to the AWLA. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do... and I will be posting more through out the year!
What a beautiful day we had when shooting this session in a Clarendon park. This puppy had its first big photography session! We had fun throwing leaves and watching the puppy run. Sometimes I forget I am working when I am in the midst of a photography session. Life is good!
This lovely duet includes Bama the beagle and her British mama. Bama stole the show romping around the yard and doing the ever so fun head tilt. The lighting help create these wistful dream like images. I hope you enjoy these images as much as I do.
When our neighbor is out of town it means more play for our dog Coco! Allie (our neighbor's dog) loves to play ball. She will howl at you if you don’t throw it. I had so much fun trying to capture her howl! So shown bellow is the howling dog and my girl Coco who just likes to chill! (and probably is thinking about bacon!)
I recently created this holiday card for a 2015 client. And, I thought I would share it here! This client chose a classic look with modern concentric circles. I really like the final look. If you are thinking about a fall photography session for your pet, now is the time to book! Fall in DC is not only the most optimum time for photos, it is also the most popular. There are limited dates remaining but feel free to reach out to see if we can find a date for you.
Bethesda has been a favorite stomping ground for people photography, so I was thrilled when this client asked for a session in Bethesda Row! I adore "Gem" and the images from her session. I hope you do too! (See more from this session in my sample gallery here.)
